Vincent Stanley, Patagonia's Director of Philosophy, once told me "constraints often shape our greatest creativity". This run is a testament to this advice. Faced with stock of fabric and trims leftover from past production runs, but with far less than enough of each to meet factory minimums, the idea for MixMatch was born; pieced together, these leftover fabrics would be woven into one singular style that ironically produced unique pieces.

But how could we satisfy the factory requirement of consistency in thread usage? Well, what matches everything? Rainbow for the win!

We made a ton of mock-ups which all looked awesome, but I didn't know how they would ultimately look. When the first samples came to life, I could not decide which piece I loved most. And what I realized is that their differences are part of what make them so awesome. And that we get the one that is meant for us.
